Unlikely Allies....

With all this talk recently about President Obama and his trips abroad, I thought I would share the lesson that I've learned at the Kolker Homestead from the Kolker Kritters.

You all know that a few months ago we adopted a kitten. At first she was afraid of the dogs and the dogs were terrified of her.

As the months have moved by, things have changed drastically. It was Millie that became her ally first. She discovered that Oprah Mae loved to chase and wrestle. Something that Mommie and Toby were not very good at.

Now, Toby has decided that she isn't such a bad pupcat after all. She sleeps cuddled up to him. Millie turns into a crockodile when she goes to sleep. No cuddling with her unless it's her idea.

Oprah Mae and Millie have even become partners in mischief. Yesterday, Oprah Mae knocked 2 boiled eggs off the counter in the kitchen. I didn't know about it until I noticed Millie eating one of them. Oprah Mae had her nose right up to the egg while Millie ate it. Millie never growled.

My lesson learned: If mortal enemies, made by God, can learn to love one another - why can't countries, made by Man, do the same?

Long days and pleasant nights.
