Here We Go Again!

How much do I have to proclaim my hatred for Winter and in particular SNOW before it goes away. I am a native of Oklahoma. I have traveled the mainland and Maui in the United States, and decided that the absolute best place to live, in my opinion, is Oklahoma. Why? Well, one because we are centrally located and not too far from Dallas, St. Louis, and/or Kansas City. Two, we only have 3 freakin days of snow a decade! Ok, so maybe that is underestimated by a few days, but, let's get serious, we don't have this much snow and ice in one Winter.
Check out the Dachsund Prints in the Snow. It was almost like a poem...
Ok, I'm off to a very hot bubble bath and then a nice cozy blankie and at least one doxie to snuggle with... the other will probably have to take time to chew on my fingers, toes, and nose before deciding to snuggle.
PS: the drive down from Mt Crumpit tonight was not a fun one! I HATE SNOW!!!!

Goodbye Barbaro

Good Bye to a horse that I learned to love from a distance.
Barbaro who fought a much more valiant fight than expected was sent to a pasture on another level of the tower today. It’s odd that I feel so sad, never meeting him personally.
I grew up as a part-time farm kid. On Nannie and Poppie’s farm every weekend and summer until right around high school. Then spent my summers in western Oklahoma almost until graduation from high school. I’ve met horses but never really learned to appreciate them until Jo and I became roommates. Then I met the most fabulous horse, Strait. I also never really paid much attention to horse racing, then last fall, a horse that could have been Strait’s twin won the Kentucky Derby. (or one of those races) But then broke his leg in the Preakness.
Strait it turns out had had just as dangerous an injury a year before. I was there with Jo to help in his care. My job was to hug and love on him and hopefully distract him from her tending his huge injury. Strait is fine now.
We will miss you Barbaro, and if you see either of my doxie’s run and play with them!

15 Days and Still Ice

Can you believe it? We still have ice on the ground and it has been 2 weeks since the storm ended. We are experiencing an El Nino, but jeez, can't we get enough sunshine to make this storm a distant memory?
My parents were without electricity for a week. Renie and Steve went almost that long, Patty and Jimmy a little over a week, and Nannie, well a week and a half. She even pulled the "I'm an old lady" line on the electric company.

Whiskey's Got a Hold on Me

So I’ve been told that it has been many days since I last logged. True, it has been. So to catch up quickly..
We have now survived an ice storm. I had some weird virus that forced me to miss 3 days of work. Turns out that was ok, because I then worked 9 days straight without a day off. Toby, Millie and I spent the first few days of the ice storm with Kenna. That was fun, even with the 4 cats. Don't know how much detail to go into about the car. I will get a lesson on loose wires and nuts on and around the battery by next week!
Jo has introduced me to yet another wonderful band. Randy Rogers played the Cains last Thursday. I must say I love that venue. The band rocked or should I say, Country and Westerned the place very well. And even with the freaky people we met, it was a great night. I even had an “escort” to my car. He was concerned someone would try to harm me, but assured me that I would be safe as long as he followed me.
Now I have to vacuum and then stop avoiding Algebra. I received a friendly reminder email from my teacher that I haven't turned in any homework yet. eek!

Cole...

My baby is back from the big city. They had a blast. In fact, so much fun they didn't hang out in Tulsa, just loaded their stuff and went back to Norman. Major lesson learned, listen to Mom when she says to pack overnight stuff! Oh and Canadians have never heard of Discover Card. Who knew?
Now it's back to the grind of school. Stay tuned, I'll keep you posted on her progress in taking over the world!
